Quadrenectomy

When the mass in the breast exceeds a certain size and reaches 2-3 cm in length, it may spread not only to the lobe in which it is located, but also to adjacent lobes. Even small secondary tumor foci may develop around it. In this case, not just a single lobe must be removed, but several lobes side by side. Quadrenectomy is the procedure of removing a quarter of the breast, not a single lobe.

This is especially important in patients whose tumor was previously large but was later reduced in size by receiving chemotherapy (neoadjuvant chemotherapy). No matter how much the tumor shrinks during chemotherapy, care is taken to plan the surgery according to its size when it was first detected.

During quadrdrenectomy, sentinel lymph node dissection or axillary dissection is also added, depending on the tumor level of the patient.
