Breast Cancer in Men

In our country, breast cancer in men is a disease that is 1% rarer than breast cancer in women. Especially situations where the estrogen hormone increases trigger breast cancer in men as well as women.

Male Breast Cancer Risk Factors:

  1. Malnutrition (causes liver damage with protein loss)
  2. Liver diseases (Estrogen cannot be broken down and accumulates in the body)
  3. Hormonal imbalances (In some diseases, estrogen increases and testosterone decreases)
  4. Situations and diseases in which the body resistance system decreases
  5. Excessive exposure to chemicals with estrogenic effects, especially pesticides.
  6. Genetics, having breast cancer in the family.  It should be known that breast cancer genetically affects not only girls but also boys.

 Diagnosis -Treatment (OUR APPROACH)

Diagnosis and treatment methods are the same as for breast cancer in women. However, due to the small size of the breast tissue in men, the spread of the disease is rapid and chemotherapy may need to be planned before surgery. (Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy)

Breast Cancer Prevention Methods in Men

When the causes of breast cancer in men are fully understood, prevention methods will be better understood. In particular, liver protection, jaundice vaccinations, restriction of alcohol intake, regular nutrition and stress control are recommended for prevention purposes.
