Breast enlargement in men is a condition in which the factors that cause breast tissue growth cannot be easily detected. This condition is called "gynecomastia". Another condition that can be called false gynecomastia is "adipomastia", which occurs with age and increase in fatness, and should be distinguished from gynecomastia.
Gynecomastia may also occur during some diseases and medication use. The reason for the development of gynecomastia in these diseases is the increase in the estrogen hormone or its effect in the body. Although gynecomastia is rare, care should be taken when it is unilateral, firm but painless, and the possibility of breast cancer in men should also be considered.
Treatment
When breast enlargement is detected, it must first be understood whether there is real gynecomastia or not. Breast ultrasonography (USG) is usually used in differential diagnosis. When true gynecomastia is diagnosed, it can sometimes be accompanied by benign diseases of the breast tissue. In gynecomastia treatment, the causes are investigated and the complaints are resolved with medical treatments. In cases where breast tissue is overdeveloped, surgical removal of the breast (Gynecomastia Surgery) may be planned by preserving the nipple and skin.
In adipomastia, the treatment is done by removing the fat tissue and liposuction can often be sufficient. In adipomastia, which is just an increase in fat in the breast, the treatment is done by removing the fat tissue.
Protection Method
Paying attention to a balanced and adequate diet, doing sports and avoiding excessive enhancing drugs, especially during bodybuilding, are among the methods of preventing gynecomastia.
